Tame Impala’s new single (first music they have released in over two years), Let it Happen, received a lot of outrage from many reviewers and listeners as it didn’t pertain to their standard of psychedelic rock/pop. The use of synthesized sounds enraged some people, who are coincidentally are the same people that claim synthesizers are ruining ALL music.
How would music not be affected by a never-ending cycle of technological revolution, while the most simple parts of our lives change forever thanks to it? I had mentioned this in an old post: psychedelic music is more than just the sound and the instrument. Yes this song has pop hooks, is catchy, but it nevertheless reflects Tame Impala’s psychedelic roots with the bass and drums.
